RAVE-10 is a pickup truck–sized, multi-aperture laser system that delivers 270 watts of eye-safe wireless power. RAVE-10 could continuously power as many as 13 soldiers simultaneously, or a Group 2 UAS glider for up to 8 hours, extendable to days with additional fuel reserves. The typical effective range is 1 km, but varies based on conditions.
RAVE-120 is a 20-foot container-sized platform with 120 coordinated laser apertures, capable of beaming up to 3.2 kW of wireless power. For example, RAVE-120 could simultaneously power 5 Group 2 UAS gliders, 4 unmanned ground vehicles, and 7 dismounted soldiers with safety and precision. The typical effective range is 1 km, but varies based on conditions.
Unlike most laser power beaming approaches, RAVE employs eye-safe lasers, resulting in safe radiation levels when scattered. This enables receiver placement closer to humans than typically achievable when using 1-micron-based laser systems.
